CORONER'S INQUEST.
An inquest was held before J. Fii;zgeraldi Coroner, on the, body of Henry Sutherland. 4 It appears from the evidence of Richard Robinson and Edward Bowler, that the decease met his death in the praiseworthy attempt to save a child belonging to a Mrs. Parker, which had accidently fallen into the river Waiwetui Botn Robinson and Bowler exerted themselves to the utmost, but on the body being drawn into the punt, life was extinct. The child was saved. Verdict. Death from drowning.

James Thomas Wright was born about 1815.1 He died on 8 January 1844, at age ~29, in Manakau Harbour Auckland drowned.1

Accidental Death.-On Monday morning last, as some natives were returning home near Manuka, they discovered the body of a man lying on the beach. The natives informed some of their friends, who accompanied them and examined the body. On the deceased they found some silver, a watch and two rings, which they took together with the bodv, to the Rev. Mr. Hamblin's, at Orua, who had a shell made for it, and gave the natives instructions to take the body to Onehunga beach, and also a letter to the authorities in Auckand. The Coroner. Mr; Edward Meurant, the Chief Constable, and some natives repaired to where the deceased was, when it was -immediately identified by the Coroner, and Mr. Meurant, as the body of Mr. Thomas Wright, who it appeared was on his way from Port Nicholson to Auckland, and as he was rather short sighted he must Lave slipped into the water, from the ridge or track, when he got drowned. An} inquest was held on the body yesterday, when the jury returned a verdic of found drowned.
