The Key family arrived in 1856, and they, the Stratfords and the Bills all lived in Tinakori Rd Wellington, so clearly after leaving London the children didn't look very far for partners, similar to what they would very likely have done had they remained in their local areas of London. By the way, I don't think that Mary Ann was actually James Stratford's mother, as if so she would have been only about 15 when he was born, and George and Mary Ann didn't marry til 1841. George could have had a previous marriage, or alternatively he and Mary Ann could have 'adopted' an orphaned nephew perhaps, but I don't have James' death certificate which might convey that information, and I also haven't checked the 1841 census to see if he was living with George and Mary Ann at that point. He's only distantly connected to me by his marriage to my 3x Great aunt, after all :jo featherston

I need to find where George Alder was buried as St Pauls (none of them apparently) had cemeteries attached! And I cannot find him in Bolton Street, or Karori.
As for the dates of birth for the two older children - I started to look into that but havent finished as I rrealised there was a discrepancy with Mary Anns ages.Have found the actual marriage image though which definitely shows both Mary Ann and George living at the same address. Have been looking for possible baptism information for the two children. Made contact with Richard Anderson last weekend too which was great. Previously a lot of people researching the family had Mary Ann's father as Benjamin and had heer backwards and forward to USA. Of course the problem has been that at times Mary Ann shows as Hollingshead and others Hollingsworth.
Recently I visted Wellington City Council Archives and came across some interesting information about Mary Ann and her daughter to John Simmons - Mary Ann Cole Simmons who married William Sharpe- one of their sons was Kenneth George Sharpe who was my grandfather. One of their daughters married a Charles Key who is rerlated to the Key family linked through George and MaryAnn's daughter.

I am not sure if I have ever made contact with Jo Featherston.
As I said further up I will put this on hold until after this assignment!!
