MRS, MARGARET OTTO. At the age of 81 rears there died at Benson Road. Remuera. Mr 3. Margaret Otto, who arrived here when she was an infant six months old. Her parents. Mr and Mrs. Isaac McEwen, landed in Auckland from the Duchess of Argyle, on October 10. 1842. Of late years Mrs. Otto was blind, but her health was good enough to enable her to be present at the old colonists' reunion in the Town Hall on the 10th of this month Her brother (Mr. Philip Ewen) was a member of a company trading in sandal wood, and was murdered by the natives of one of the islands over 73 years ago. Mrs. Otto used to tell of the days of the Maori Wars, on one occasion being hidden under the house by her mother. By her marriage in 1863 Mrs Otto had ten children, of whom the following survive: Messrs. Robert Otto (Thames). George and Andrew (Remuera), Philip and Clement (Ponsonby). and Mesdames Stephenson. Speck. Walsh, and Doran. There are 26 grandchildren, and 15 greatgrandchildren.
