He and Janet Sharp were married on 31 January 1807 in Old Cumnock, Ayr, Sct, JK has marriage date as 13 feb 1807. He died in 1850, at age ~81, in Elgin, Huntingdon, Quebec, Canada., Death, Elgin, Quebec. MI 1770 -1850 and army pension paper Jno TANNEHILL (sic), 91st regiment of foot; pension awarded 20 jun 1803; residence Montreal, Quebec, Canada; died 1850 source WO 120, vol 70 page 112.¹

Military Pension record which states that he was pensioned out of service with a disabled hand 20 jun 1803 at age 34, following 9 and 3/4 years service and that his birth place was Fenwick, Kilmarnock, Ayrshire, Scotland. land in lieu of pension after discharge from army.

John Tannahill and Janet Sharp both of this parish gave in their mutual order for proclomation on saturday the 31 Jan 1807, were duly called in church on two following Sabbaths and no objection being offered were married on the 13 Feb 1807. ( Ol d Cumnock Parish Record.) He was christened on 16 July 1769 in Fenwick, Ayr, Sct.
