Helen Rogers was born in 1843 in Epsom, Auckland, NZ.

PPA to add. Born Epsom and when 5 years old went to Kawau with parents. Father was a miner. Lived with her grandmother in Epsom for 5 years while parents went to goldfields in California.

Mrs. Helen McGee, who died at her residence at 42, Bassett Road, Remuera, last weak, was born at Epsom in 1843. When five years old she went with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Rogers, to Kawau Island, where copper-mining was being carried on. Mrs. McGee received her early education at St. Mark s school, Remuera, and resided with her grandmother at Epsom for five years while her father and mother visited tws California gold diggings. On their return she lived with them at Qtahuhu; until her marriage to tha late Mr. Arthur McGee in 1864. After her marriage she resided at Qnehunga for some years, Mr McGee being at that time a member the Auckland Provincial Council. He later went in for farmiing at Mangere and Papatoetoe, and afterwards resided at Walmsley Road, Otahuhu, and Bassett Road, Remuera. Mrs. McGee, who enjoyed good health up to the time of her death, could recall many stirring evants in Auckland during the Maori wars. She is survived by two sons and six daughters. Two grandsons lost their lives in the Great War and another died from war injuries after returning to Zealand. The funeral took place at Otara Ceirietery on Saturday.
