Great grandfather of Rewi R T Roach. Emigrated to New Zealand in the `Prince of Wales' in December 1842. Lived in Khandallah, Wellington; had a cottage at Porirua Bush in 1840s. Married E Symons in 1854. He was a farmer in the West Coast of the North Island and Otaki. Married Hinenui Te Po, daughter of the Ngati Raukawa chief, Matenga Te Matia and his wife Paramihia Whawha. Hinenui and Francis Skipwith had five children.
