John Tannahill was born in 1739. He and Janet Dykes were married on 23 January 1791 in Fenwick, Ayr, Sct. He died on 13 January 1827, at age ~88, in Kirktown, Fenwick, Ayr, Sct.¹

This John may have been the one who went to Huntingdon, Canada and not the
one who is recorded as dying 1857. M Summers to check.
Correspondence from Barbara Nelson states that this is John who went to Huntingdon.
Mauri Summers now thinks headstone transcription in error and should have been 1827 not 1857. so date of birth would have been 1739 if 88 years of age. Which John?
But John that went to Canada had a spouse Janet SHARP and 9 kids! John Tannahill was baptized on 24 August 1739 in Kirktown, Fenwick, Ayr, Sct.

Janet Wilson was born on 17 December 1710 in Fenwick, Ayr, Sct. She and Robert Tannahill were married on 15 July 1731 in Fenwick, Ayr, Sct. She died on 7 April 1750, at age 39, in Fenwick, Ayr, Sct.

James Shields was born on 22 March 1779 in Fenwick, Ayr, Sct. He and Margaret Anderson were married on 18 February 1809 in Fenwick, Ayr, Sct. He died in 1840, at age ~61, in Fenwick, Ayr, Sct. He was buried on 14 March 1840 in Fenwick, Ayr, Sct.

This is great information and will be helpful in verifying my Shields and extended lines. The Scott line (name) I know is WRONG because I have a document from my grandfather R.L. Scott that states his father met him at the boat dock just as he was leaving Scotland for America and told him that the family name is FRAM. His father had changed his name to Scott when he joined the army but didn't tell him his first Fram name or birth date so we can't document a connection. It's a very big mystery due to the fact that his mother Ann Shields came to America and lived with him for a time and he surely should have asked her about it. But Grandpa R.L.Scott never mentioned anything about the name change to his children until shortly before his death and by then had forgotten any details.
R.L.Scott and his sister Agnes did 3 generations of LDS Temple work on Ann Shields lines which indicate that Ann's parents were James SHIELDS and Margaret ANDERSON; her grandparents were Robert SHIELDS and Agnes TANNAHILL; John ANDERSON and Ann LAMONT. But these last two sets of parents are different from what most records others have sent in to FamilySearch, Ancestor or Rootsweb. Therefore I am trying to find the source and documented names for James Shields and Margaret Anderson's parents. So far I have not been able to do so.
And by the way, I'm not asking you to do the research for me, I'm just telling you my situation. I appreciate what you have sent me and am saying, "Thank you!" I will study the Tannahill information well in hopes I can find Agnes TANNAHILL or verify that Mary (as in this record) is the right name.

Anna Boyd was born about 1714 in Fenwick, Ayr, Sct. She and Andrew Tannahill were married on 25 February 1736 in Kilmarnock, Ayr, Sct. She died on 25 August 1761, at age ~47.¹
