She and her husband, Andrew Crooks, had returned to Fenwick from Kilmarnock - a child was born in Crawfordland, Fenwick in 1677. Though her husband's name is not listed in the death record, it was common to list the women by their maiden names at this time in the burial record. Bess(Ie) Tannahill was baptized on 17 September 1645 in Fenwick, Ayr.
