DEATH OF WILLIAM HAY, ESQ.
[Another old and respected settler lias [passed away in the person of William Hay, Esq., who died yesterday afternoon at his (residence, Papakura. The deceased gentlemau was formerly engaged in Auckland in [the building trade, from which he retired jwith a well-earned competency, the result of (honorable industry and active business (habits. He built the Auckland Governjment House. The deceased went through : the perils and sufferings of a frontier settler iin the Waikato war of 18G3, the engagement [of Kirikiri being fought at the back of his (farm, and his house being threatened by (scouting parties of rebel Maoris on several Œoccasions. He took an active interest in all matters relating to the social, religious, and 'political welfare cf his fellow-settlers, being (president of the Papakura Agricultural Sojeicty, an office-bearer of the Presbyterian jCliurch, and a member of the Provincial ,Council for the district of Franklin. The [funeral will take place at half-past three o'clock to-morrow. William Hay was a Cabinet Maker in 1840.

Death of the Hon. Thomas Henderson. Wellington, June 29.
The Hon. Thomas Henderson, M,L.C, died at the residence of Mr George Graham, ITitzherbet, shortly after midnight yesterday morning. The only member of his family present was his daughter, Mia Von der Heyde. He was eeneible to the last, and seemed perfectly rei-ignod. He mentioned that his will was made, and all his affairs were io order, and one of hia last remarks was, "This is the lust of the circular saw," referring to the device on the flag under which the vessels of his old firm had sailed, He expressed a deeire to be interred in Auckland, near his wife, and tho body will be brought on to Auckland in the Penguin. The Government placed the Hinemoa at the disposal of the family, but Mr T. Henderson, junr., thought it unnecessary to take advantage of the offer. Thomas Maxwell Henderson was a Blacksmith in 1840.
