" I am not sure if this is relevant or of any help to you. It just so happens that I was looking for a family member ? a Thomas Batten - and I was able to draw an association, when I went from a listing of deaths in Victoria to a general search for a Thomas Batten. I remembered seeing the name Oxenham in the Victorian death list only minutes before.
It would appear that this 85 year old, who died in Warrnambool, in Victoria, in 1928, was born in New Zealand about 1843.

Having glanced at your pages, I wonder if you might be interested in this earlier record. I realize it does not give any positive information for one to make a definite decision, but it is a coincidence of location, and I assume you may have more knowledge to allow a better decision than I can make.
BATTEN Geo Father: Unknown /Mother: ? Age: 71 Birth Place: unrecorded
Death Place: WARRNAMBOOL Year: 1881 Reg Number: 3141
There was no relevant Sarah Batten death in Victoria up to 1913.
I can tell you, just in case you do not know, that the concentration of Batten surnames starts in south west England, my line of the family being located in a ten square mile area of Hampshire/Wiltshire south of Salisbury from at least 1700.
Hope this is of some value.
