George Stubbs was a whaler, trader, Waikanae 1830'S.2,1 A Sydney whaler and trader. Stubbs married Metapere Te Waipunaahau to whom he had two children Wi Parata and Hemi Matenga. Stubbs died about 1838 while fasted to a whale off Pukerua (Kapiti) with a crew of 6 or 7. The bodies were later recovered and buried. National Library.
