Hello Tony
I'm interested in the early history of Hokianga and came across two names in your extensive lists (besides HOARE and MACE which are my father's and mother's names, but no connection as we have been here only since 1970)
These are Lieutenant MACDONNELL and Richard MARRINER.
Both these have a street named after them in Rawene. As I understand it they arrived here from Sydney in the early 1800s and MacDonnell set up a trading post or store in the upper Hokianga with Marriner as his storeman. Marriner eventually took over the business and had at least two sons, another Richard and Mat(t)hew.
Treat the above with caution, by the way.
I would be very glad to know if you have fuller or more exact information. I happen to have a MARRINER in my own tree and there are three main groups in the UK: Hampshire (my relation), Berkshire and Northumberland/Durham. I would love to prove a link but don't want to twist facts!
Regards
Robin Hoare
