I have been looking into the McMath family tree for some relatives in Canada.
The McMath that linked to my tree was Emma McMath b. 1843 in the West Indies. Some people have her down as born in India, however according to the Scotland census in 1851 she was born in the West Indies. Her father was a policeman born in 1809 in Sanguhar, Dumfrieshire, Scotland and married Elizabeth Worpole b. 1813 in Chatham, Kent, England March 8, 1832.
Emma McMath married John Barton Clarke in Kilmarnock, Ayr, Scotland November 25, 1864. The interesting part about Emma and John is that they traveled to Uruguay where some of there children were born. In later life they moved to Yarmouth in Nova Scotia, Canada. Emma died May 22, 1927 in Yarmouth N.S.
The link to myself is, an aunt of mine married a Thomas Allan Clarke in Guildford England 1918. Thomas was in the Canadian army at his time and they both moved to Canada when his unit moved back to Canada.
