GOLDEN WEDDING
OLD PAIHIA RESIDENTS
A couple who, were among the early settlers in the Bay of Islands will celebrate the golden anniversary of tlwr wedding today. They are Mr and Mr? Henry S. Ludbrook, of Paihia. Born at Otahuhu .84 years ago. Mr Ludbrook is a son of the late Mr S. B. Ludbrook, ono of tlie first Europeans to settle'it Ohaeawai. and a grandson of, Archdeacon Henry Williams. He was educated at the Parnell Grammar School and took over the Tupe Tupe Estate at Ohaeawai on his father's death. Mr Ludbrook was a member of the old combined Counties Hospital and Charitable Aid Board, a director of the Bay of Islands Dairy Company and for 20 years a member of the Bay ot Islands County Council. He is a justice of the peace and a life member of the Bay of Islands Pastoral and Industrial Association. Keenly interested in most forms of sport, Mr Ludbrook was a patron of the Bay of Islands Rugby Union and presented a larße areaot ground to the Ohaeawai Domain Board for use as a sports ground. Mrs Ludbrook is a daughter of the late Mr J. L. Kinsolla, a reporter on the London Times, who subsequently came to New Zealand and joined the staff of the Southern Cross and later the Nkw Zkai.and Hkkald. Still an active social worker. Mrs Ludbrook is president of the Paihia branch of the Women's Institute and a member or the Red Cross Society, She was one ot the oldest women in the district to complete her V.A.D. course by doing w hours' -nursing, in a public hospital during the present war. Mr and Mrs Ludbrook have six sons and there are 21 grandchildren.
