I have the Savery Family back to John Savery 1501 as the family married into the Towgood Family twice, 1. John Savery 1747 is the grandnephew of Mary Savery b.1701 who married Stephen Towgood b.1695 Axminster, Devon, England ( I'm a 1st cousin 8 times removed of Stephen)


The spelling of Towgood was also spelt Toogood in a lot of cases, some people don't believe that but it is true.


The first Towgood to NZ was Stephen Herbert Towgood b. 6 April 1834 Llandaff, Glamorgan, Wales from there on NZ born some went to USA then Canada. Stephen (m) Emily Jane Simpson who was only sixteen when married. Emily's father was Sebright Thomas Simpson b.28 August 1803 Tangiers, Spain (British Consul in Tangiers, Spain.
Property called Mount Washington (named after George Washington). Apparently died of pneumonia while fighting a court case in England over his interests in a sugar refinery in the West Indies. I descend from William, one of nine children born to Stephen & Emily.


One of Stephen's brothers, Arthur Yerbury Towgood was the Archdeacon of St Stephen's Anglican Church, Marton near Wanganui NZ.
The stone laid down for the church was laid by Octavius Hadfield and Arthur, you have Hadfield under early missionaries to NZ.
