OBITUARY.
MRS. SARAH BOND. In the death of Mrs. Sarah Bond, a link with early Auckland has been severed. Born in 1849 in a house at the corner of High Street and Vulcan Lane which her father, Mr. John Watson, a native of Inverness and one of Auckland' 6 original blacksmiths, 'had built, Mrs. Bond only left the Auckland district for a year, which she spent at the Thames.
Her husband, Mr. George Bond, was a sergeant of police at the time of their marriage, and was transferred to Thames, where the gold rush had started. After a year Mr. Bond bought a email farm at Papatoetoe, where the couple lived for the next 20 years, then moving to Otahuhu. Mr. Bond died in 1900, Mrs. Bond remaining in residence at Otahuhu for some years. Later she transferred to Mount Eden and more recently to Takapuna. She is survived by one son, Mr. William Bond, of Takapuna.
