OBITUARY
MRS JOSEPH FAULKNER. There passed awa.y at Te Puna on Sunday last a link with the historic past in the person of Mrs Joseph Faulkner, at the ripe old age of 97 years. The late Mrs- Faulkner, who before her marriage, was Heni Potier, was the daughter of one of the three early French settlers who settled in the Bay of Plenty last century?the others were Bidois and Borell, and all of these pioneers have left many descendants. She lived a strenuous and to us of to-day a very interesting life. Her husband was of a sea-faring disposition and owned and ran cutters along the coast and to Auckland. Mrs Faulkner .was a daughter of the Ngatiranginui tribe , and after set-' tling at Bowentown moved to Te? Puna, and at the time of her death saw the rise of four generations and the number of 358 descendants. The following are members of Mrs Faulkner?s family: Mrs Potier Tan- ' gituj Mrs C. Bidois, Mrs F. Borell, and Charles Faulkner (Te Puna), Mr Fred Faulkner (Whakamarama), Mrs Calrlo Smith and Mrs Heke (Bethlehem), Mrs Tatau Ngatai and Mr Joe Faulkner (Mataplhi). The deceased Avas highly respected and friends from as far as Taranaki gathered at the burial to pay their last respects to the mother of Te Puna.
