Amos lost both his forearms in an accident when trying to fire the Cannon on the ship Cuba whislt in Wellington Harbour. For story see "Glimpses into Early Manawatu - The Saga of Amos and Lydia BURR' by Vera L McLennan-Bowman.
Amos and Lydia had 12 children one of whom was still born. Amos Burr immigrated to arrived Wellington 2 jan 1840 on the Cuba. in 1839.2 He was a Cadet seaman. in 1839.2
