"Thanks for your great work, Tony! There are 4 Bluett family members on the Olympus which arrived on April 20 1841. There was a fifth who has been left off. She was Thomas Bluett's wife, Mary, who was Peter Langley's sister, and mother of Mary Ann and Thomas junior. I am trying to discover how and when Peter got from NZ to Australia, where he married in 1848 in Melbourne. Any suggestions as to how I might do this, please. DeLangley60 ( Ancestry.com)

Thomas established a printing and lithographing business shortly after arriving and worked with fellow Olympus passenger Jacob William Jones, who
prepared the plates. Jacob was an accomplished artist in his own right, and some of his own works survive. however Thomas and family emigrated from Wellington to Sydney november 1841 then to Hobart in july 1843. He established Lithographing businesses in each place but was obviously not a very good businessman. Around oct 1844 the family moved to Hong Kong. Early in 1845 Thomas deserted his wife and two children and locals rallied to fund her return to England. It appears then her son Thomas died in Hong Kong. Mary claimed that Thomas snr had got into debt and had fled to India. Mary returned to England on the Tory ( a terrible journey involving gales, mutiny and murder). She arrived back around 10 nov 1845 and was a witness at trials relating to the voyage. By april 1846 Thomas had returned to England and was lived briefly with Mary. He was working as a lithographer. On the 25th april he was shot by a 15 yr old boy and after some about 2 weeks died from his wounds. PABA.
