My ancestor Dougald / Dugald Taylor and family are mentioned on the site. It looks like the day has been sourced from the Passenger List of the Duchess of Argyll arriving Auckland in October 1842.
My research throws some doubts about son Thomas (aged 10 in 1842). A) I can't find him in the UK census or NZ records, and B) Dugald and Mary's son Donald (also born 1832) is not shown on the Passenger list? which is strange since a note from the undertakers (C. Little and Sons) when he died in 1917, says that he had been in NZ for 75 years (i.e. since 1842).
Do you have any idea / possible explanations / leads that I might pursue? Kevin Morris kwmorris88@gmail.com

Thanks for getting back to me. You have been really helpful. Although I have most of your info, and although I had the record of Donald in Invernessshire, I hadn't noticed the bit about "born outside of County". (I use the site Scotland's People? you have to buy credits.) I think there must be a family connection. I also noticed that there is an Alexander Taylor aged 11 working on the neighbouring farmily maybe a cousin?
Some Ancestry trees put Dugald as born in Barrhead, Paisley, 1806, a but that doesn't tie in with "born outside of County". Other Ancestry trees show him born in Glassary, Argyllshire in 1800 I am not yet convinced that this is him either., although it would tie in with a marriage in 1837 of a Dugald to Mary Johnson in 1837. Record attached.
Some Ancestry trees say that Dugald died in 19th October1844, and Mary died in 1857 I can't find a record of either death or a grave in the Symonds street Cemetery records.
Mary Taylor shows in the Police Census as a widow living in Chancery Street (owner occupier), (attached) but the list of grants / tenants doesn't include her. I am awaiting the marriage certificate for Donald from the NZBDM folk it may show his parent's names. I have found nothing re Thomas in the newspapers or census records. Unless he was Donald's twin, it is hard to think that Mary would have two kids in a calendar year.
I don't have Dugald's birthday, but am hopeful that C Little and Sons funeral directors will provide their records? I'm waiting for a reply.
I have a lot of info on Donald, starting from an 1857 advert in the newspaper as a horse trainer. He was really successful, and there's lots in the papers. He married Mary Jane Jarvis from Otahuhu in 1859 and had about 9 kids. He died at 37 Arthur Street, Freemans Bay aged 85 in 1917. Mary Jane died in 1929. I've trawled a lot from the papers it all makes quite a good story. I could send it to you if you are interested. KMO2. Dougald (Dugald) Taylor had person sources.
5 He immigrated to Glasgow, SCT to NZ on the Duchess of Argyle arriving NZ 9/10/1842, on 9 June 1842.
1 He was a weaver, Auckland in 1844.
