George White was a flax trader Matata.2 My Geoge WHITE was born in Sri Lanka 1828 and married Ringaono, daughter of Rangitakina a chief of Ngati Awa. My George ran away to sea rather than be educated in England and I think jumped ship when he arrived in NZ. He had a brother Bennet WHITE, who came out later and also settled in the BOP with a maori wife. JCH
possibly the same George WHITE who spent a year in Whangapoua (Coromandel) in 1840 with partner McCORMACK cutting timber and trading. (from Coromandel Local Newspaper abt 5 may 2021 in article on Henry RING.)
