Biography

William (Captain) Stevens was born on 17 June 1825 in Eastbourne, SSX, ENG.1,2,3,4 He and Frances Emma (GALLIOT) Daniels were married. He and Christina (Christian) (NEVENS) Niven were married. He died on 2 August 1897, at age 72, in Gummies Bush, Southland, NZ.2 He was buried on 4 August 1897 in Riverton, Southland, NZ.2
William (Captain) Stevens was a whaler, farmer.1 Had two wives and twenty children CC
You are correct, William STEVENS 'married' twice - but no record of the first one, so we think Irahapeti (spelled various ways) was, in modern parlance, 'a partner'. He married Frances Emma before Irahapeti died and referred to a son of that association as 'my natural son' which seems to indicate that he was not married to the mother. Frances Emma is not relation to the DANIEL family of Theo etc. We usually spell her name DANIELS to differentiate. She seems to have used (or others did) both spellings. Pam Beaudesert, Queensland, Australia. He was baptized on 17 July 1825 in St Mary's, Eastbourne, SSX, ENG.2 He immigrated to Sydney to Riverton, SI in the Success, in 1843.5,6,1
