A very well-known native-born Aucklander has just died ?Mr. Richard Binns, of Federal Street. He was the only son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Binns, win) came out in the sailing ship Oriental to Auckland in the year it was founded, 1840. Mr. Binns was borri in 1954, and had seen most of the wonderful changes that have taken place in the city since the days when it was a mere handful of houses on ti-tree clad slopes. Mrs. W. H. Brown, of Huia Street. Devonport, wife of the well-known shipbuilder, is a sister of the late Mr. Binns, and she also was born in Auckland.

BEQUEST OF £1800 MADE. ? AUCKLAND RESIDENT'S GIFT. A bequest to the Seddon Memorial Colleeo is announced by the Public Trust i Office, the Public Trustee having been i appointed executor. The testator, Mr. ! Richard John Binns, formerly of Federal . Street, after devising various sums, bequeathed the residue of his estate to be ' used for " the advancement of the Welles- ; ley Street Technical School, Auckland." The bequest is of the estimated value of £1800, the property consisting of land, shares, and debentures. The late Mr. Binns died on January 23 last, aged 68. ' He was a single man without dependants.

1 New Zealand Herald - 13 December 1892 and Thames Advertiser - 12 Dec 1892 We regret this morning to chronicle the death of Mr John Reilly, a grocer of Pollen street, and old resident of this town, died at his residence, Pollen Street, on Saturday evening, aged 58 years. Deceased took part in the Crimean War, and afterwards worked as a miner on the Victorian goldfields. Soon after the opening of the field he came here, where he has since resided. For the last few weeks he has been suffering from bronchitis , and though everything possible was done for him by his medical attendants, he succumbed on Saturday evening, as above stated. Mr Reilly was a brother of Mrs Thomas Killgour, of Parawai, and leaves a wife and family to mourn his loss.
