Edward Hansen was born on 24 June 1823 in Oihi, Bay of Islands, NZ, ESR has 1821.1,2 He and Mary Ann Cains were married on 19 September 1847 in Kawakawa, NZ, 8 years old when arrived in NZ BOIMAR1 has 13 sep 1847.1,3 He died on 9 November 1894, at age 71, in Opoitiki, NZ, died of heart valve disease

Edward Hansen was an interpreter.1 He was a butcher Kawakawa.1 Fluent in Maori, used as interpeter in Maori Land Courts
lived in Kawakawa most of life but sometine after retirement in 1886 Edward and Mary shifted to Opotiki.
In 1989, a new plaque for Edward Hansen (1823-1894) was erected on the Webb burial plot in Opotiki cemetery. He was baptized on 28 August 1825 in Rangihoua, BOI, NZ.4
