BOLCEM
William TYRELL arrived in Wellington, probably as a cabin passenger, on the "Lord William Bentinck" in May 1841, aged 26. He died just 4 months later, "after a few days' illness". His gravestone is one of the earliest in the cemetery.
Inscription on Tombstone
The inscription is no longer visible, but it originally read: Beneath this stone rest the remains of William Rufus Tyrrell who died on the 23rd of September.
