Nov 5 1863, Mangawai, birth of Thomas JENNINGS to Mary JENNINGS (formerly GROGAN) and George JENNINGS, farmer.
A George JENNIGS died in a Dunedin Hospital of TB 1869 aged 41.
There are court reports of a Maria JENNINGS in Westport and Nelson 1870 ( drunken behaviour etc) perhaps Maria went back to Auckland from Dunedin via Wesport and Nelson early 1871 and met Edwin there and married him?
Parents possibly Edward and Catherine. Also possibly a brother Edward born feb 1847 in Auckland and married to a McGUIRE 7 jan 1878 in the St Patricks Catholic Church in Auckland.
Probably immigrated on the Commodore Perry which arrived in Auckland 20 sep 1860 from Liverpool via Melbourne.

This family was assisted in their passage to New Zealand by the Vestry of the Church of St Mary the Virgin, East Chinnock and by help given to the family by Lord Portman. Although listed as a Labourer (ag lab) John had been working in a local factory making canvas. They first lived in a nikau whare in the Maitai Valley before moving to Marlborough where work was found on the Adams' estate. They built a cob house which still stands.
