I understand that although Henry was listed as an agricultural labourer, he worked as a butcher in Wellington before becoming a sea captain. I would be keen to understand this transition in employment. Apparently his vessel came to grief ?in Wellington, and he and Mary moved to Auckland where they eventually settled on Waiheke Island. By Nov 1841 went to Turanga Mission and 1853 built a house for Rev J STACK at Rangitukia, 1848 a first proper house for Rev Hamlin at Te Wairoa. Living Poverty Bay till early 1860's then went to Otago apart from 1851 when they had time in to Auckland. Returned to Turanga before Aug 1853. Left Poverty Bay Jan 1863 , then found in Christchurch, Canterbury and by 1874 was in Ashburton until he died.
