"Arrived in New Zealand on the 'Blenheim' in 1840. Married Catherine Fraser in 1841 (daughter of Duncan Fraser who arrived on the same ship). In 1845 they moved to New South Wales, returning to Wellington in 1849 and moving to Turakina in 1851. In 1854 Gregor exchanged his Turakina property for land in the Matarawa Valley where his family remained for the next 11 years. During this time five more children were born, including Gregor (born 1857). In 1865 the family moved to land allocated by Crown Grant to Matthew Goodson and named the farm 'Aird'. In 1871 Gregor and Catherine moved to 'Smithfield' in Wanganui and 'Aird' was farmed by their son Alexander in partnership with Gregor McLeod. ."
