On December 30, at his iate residence, "The Wharf," Otihuhu, a'ter a brief illness, Mr. &imuel Baird finished life's course in his 77th year. He was born at Moville, County Donegal, Ireland, and came to this colony early in 1854. He settled in the neighbourhood of Otaauhu, where, with the exception of a visit to the Old Country, he has resided ever since. Mr. Baird took very little part in public affairs, but always manifested a deep interest in local matters, and was highly respected and esteemed by all who knew him. He leaves a widow and a large circle of friends to mourn their loss. Samuel Baird immigrated to 1854 from IRL in 1854.

DEATH AT 95
MRS MARTHA JAMIESON . The death has occurred of one of Hamilton?s oldest residents, Mrs Martha Jamieson, of Naylor Street Hamilton East, in her 96th year. Born at Motueka on July 20, 1848, Mrs Jamieson was a pioneer of New Zealand, for her father, the late Mr John Windibank, came to the Dominion as one of Captain Wakefield?s colonists. Mr Windibank was a survivor of the Wairau massacre of 100 years ago. After her marriage to Mr James Jamieson at Hokitika Mrs Jamieson lived at Westport and Motueka. For the last 30 years s,he had been a resident of Hamilton. Mr Jamieson, a bootmaker by trade, died 20 years ago. Mrs Jamieson is survived by a large family, her direct descendants numbering more than 100, including several great-great-grandchild-ren. Three of the grandchildren are prisoners of war, while others are serving with the forces. One of her grandchildren, the Rev. V. Roy Jamieson, M.8.E., returned from the Middle East last year and is at present minister of the Dominion Road Methodist Church, Auckland.

MR JAMES JAMIESON.
Another of the fast-diminishing band of pioneers who blazed tbe trail and assisted to-make this country what it is t.o-day, passed away last evening, in the person of Mr James Jamieson. The deceased was born in Edinburgh in 1850, and arrived in New Zealand in 1867 in the clipper ?Janet Nichol. 0 Caught by the gold fever he proceeded to the diggings at Hokitika, afterwards engaging in the boa t -building . business. He then ent to Neiscn and v Buller, and some 15 years ago he came to Waikato, making Ids home m Vlamilton. The late Mr Jamieson was an active member of tlie Salvation rmv for thirty years,(and was much loved for his goodness and happy Christian* actions. The deceased had not enjoyed the best of healtli for some lime, and had been an inmate of Waikato Hospital for the past three months, his deatli taking place at 7.30 last night. The late Mr Jamieson was married 52 years ago. and leaves five sons, four daughters, and a large number of grand-children to mourn their loss. James Jamieson immigrated to arrived NZ 1867 in the Janet Nichol. in 1867.

MR; JOHN JAMIESON. [BY TELEGKArH. ?OWN CORRESPONDENT.] CHEISTCHTJECH, Monday. The death has occurred of Mr. John Jamieson, of Hereford Street, Christchurch, aged 73 years. Mr. Jamiesotr was a manufacturer's agent and imported and carried on business in Manchester Street, City. His parents came to New Zealand from England in the ship Jane Gifford, in 1842. Mr. Jamiesou was born in Auckland in 1853 and was educated at the Rev. P. Mason's Western Academy. He entered the boot trade and in 1875 removed from Auckland to Christchurch, where ho entered the service of Messrs. . Liglrtbandj Allan ;ancl Co., as a salesman. After being with that firm for 13 years he returned to Auckland as manager of William Mc.Arthur and Company's boot department and remained there until 1891. In 1878± Mr; Jalmieson married- ; a daughter of the late Mr. James Lamb, of Christchurch. Ho was for many years a member of the old Linwood Town Board and in 1895 was elected to the Linwood Borough Council. He was a member of the Robert Burns Masonic Lodge from 1884 and a justice of the peace. He leaves a widow, one daughter and three sons.

OBITUARY
MRS. ELIZA JAMIESON. By the death of Mrs. Eliza Jamieson on Thursday the Dominion lost one of its oldest born. Her father and mother Mr. and Mrs. David Williams, arrived from Wales in the London on its second voyage in 1812, and while Mr. Williams was at Tolago Bay building the Mission Church for the Rev. E. Baker, Mrs Jamieson was born on Juno 12, 1844. Eighteen months later the family shifted to Wellington, living in what is now Northland. Owing to native. trouble it was thought desirable to shift into Mulgrave street near St. Paul?s Church, the site of which was then covered with ti-tree. She remembered the violent earthquakes of 1848, when it was difficult to stand up. The Maori pas then existed in Pipitea and To Aro and Lambton Quay was still tho ?beach.? Mrs. Jamieson was twice married, her first husband being Mr. John Stoddart and her second the late Mr. John Jamieson, of the ?Independent,? Government Printing Office, and ?Evening Post? staffs. Her surviving children arc by her first marriage. Mr. James Stoddart (West Australia), Mr. A. Stoddart (Sydney, N.S.W.), Mrs. C. Mitchell (Hataitai), and Mrs. C. H. TJsmar (Palmerston North), and by her second marriage Mrs. G. Holliday (Hataitai), Mr E. Jamieson (Shannon), Mr. John Jamieson (Ngaio), and Mrs. W. R. Aikcns (Kilbirnio). Her surviving brothers are Messrs David and Arthur Williams, of Tinakori road, while her only sister, Mrs. Harry Plimmer, and a daughter, Mrs. M. Feist, predeceased her. She leaves twenty grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Mrs Jamieson was a fo.
