Deported on ship Asia 1 Sept 1820 Daniel now 15 years old?
Certificate of Freedom Aug 1828.
Arrived Bay of Islands early 1930s.
Left Bay of Islands approx 1833/35
Arrived Samoa, married Chiefs Daughter Noa.
Settled Raoul Island 1837. Set up trading station for whalers/sealers.
Returned to Bay of Islands June 1848
All 6 children christened in Mangonui ?
Purchased property in Mill Bay and settled there.
Sometime around 1854,Daniel disappeared and no trace can be found of him. He had mortgaged his property and it looks like he just deserted his wife.
Noa his wife died 1873. I have just had the headstone lettering repainted.
It appears that Noa may have been the first Samoan immigrant to NZ.
Cheers Ray ps I have over 100 pages of his life as a convict and on Raoul Island etc. The Kermadec are part of New Zealand. Daniel Baker immigrated to Australia to BOI, NZ, about 1835.
